Association of Friends of Shannon Court

Shannon Court Charity Golf Day – Betchworth Park GC Thursday 13th May 2010

Notwithstanding the ‘credit crunch’, last year’s event was a tremendous success – we raised almost £4,000 – and we have been able to secure Betchworth Park Golf Club again this year for our Charity Golf Day. We have also been able to maintain the cost at last year’s level.

The support given in previous years by the ‘Friends’ has made a significant difference to the comfort of the residents of Shannon Court and has been very gratefully received. Whilst this is just one of several fund raising events organised by the ‘Friends’ during the year it is without doubt the most important. You have been good enough to support this event in the past and I hope that I can count on you again for this very deserving cause.

The application form is available from the download page (or follow the link at the bottom of this article) and I would be grateful if you could complete and return it as soon as possible. If you have a surfeit of golfers who would like to play, or you are unable to raise a full team please let me have the names and contact numbers so that, if another team falls short at the last minute I can call on the ‘spares’, or form a ‘Wanderers’ team – bear in mind that there will be prizes for individual scores as well as team prizes.

"It was with great sadness that Friends and residents said a fond farewell to Mary Maughan-Otten as she prepared to leave for pastures new. Mary had been the manager of the R.M.B.I. Home at Shannon Court, for too short a time in our minds.
She was a loving and caring person to whom nothing was too much trouble. Everyone she was in contact with became her Friend. She will be very much missed by us all."
