The second Christmas party again hosted by the Friends of Shannon Court was held on Friday 18th December.
A special thank you to Jenny Else for her expertise in not only arranging the evening but comparing it so wonderfully.
The evening commenced with Bucks Fizz followed by a superb buffet. The evening’s entertainment commenced with the beautiful voice of Lori Tingay singing some of the most popular songs of 'yesteryear'.
Right on time even with all the snow falling down Father Christmas arrived to hand out presents and crackers and many kisses to the ladies, plus a quiet one in the corner. The evening was concluded by Ricky Sargent accompanied by Shaz with their ‘Cockney Capers’ down from the Old Kent Road singing and playing his accordion. his old time favorites were a real hit and he really got us all going.
What a great night we all had. with everyone joining in. Thank you Jenny.
" Once again Christmas came a little early to the Shannon Court residents when Father Christmas called in to distribute gifts to everyone on the evening of December 18th!
Not many people may know that you can book him to come to a function at Christmas time - but it has to be before THE BIG DAY for obvious reasons.
Yes this was the REAL Father Christmas! And he was received with great excitement . (I know it was the real one because I put his beard to the most rigorous of tests).
Anyway he arrived right in the middle of a variety of Christmas fun and games including, of course, the obligatory Christmas 'spirit' from the bar and a sumptuous party buffet with crackers.
Firstly we were treated to a lovely musical rendition provided by Lori Tingay which included songs from the shows, old favourites and some more recent 'pop'. A cosy glow descended over the warm lounge to the strains of 'Chestnuts Roasting' and the Seasonal scene was set.
Then came the visit from the main man after which the atmosphere changed rather dramatically. Rocket Balloons which 'whizzed' around the room alerted the assembly to the fact that something a bit different was about to happen!
Far from being a sedentary, passive audience our residents, when armed with silver shaker blowers broke out in a spontaneous and energetic performance of an
unidentified musical arrangement but help was at hand in the form of Ricky Sargent!! By this time every one was up for some real Cockney Capers and the room rocked with noise, laughter and merriment!
Here's to next year!! " ( Jenny Else )
